Welcome to Williamsburg, where we embrace our history. It's the lifesblood of our city, it's what keeps travelers far and wide returning to us year after year. We're storytellers, laying out the joy of our nation's great start. Jamestowne is where the stories of John Smith and Pocahontas began and Yorktown offers incredible views and sea history. Nearby in historic Colonial Williamsburg, actors still actively portray the charming ways of the olden days, see for yourself with a visit and place yourself in the stocks. Interested in a traditional Southern Experience? Make a stop at Berkeley or Shirley Plantation and enjoy guided tours, gorgeous grounds and historically accurate souvenirs.

A city as rich in good food as it is in history, Williamsburg is full of wine, beer, and top tier restaurants.  Whether it be the great college staples located near William and Mary or renowned bbq from Pierces- Williamsburg knows it has good food and is proud to have it's own winery and craft beer establishment as well as several restuarants on a USA Today's top ten best list!

Live for artful entertainment? Williamsburg is rich in theatre and performing arts. Kimball Theatre houses everything from theatre productions to soulful jazz. Every year Williamsburg plays host to the Virginia Arts Festival, covering everything from jazz and chamber music to folk and rock. For the visual artist, there are a multitude of galleries and museums to wander through and explore.  The community theatre and comedy club are plentiful in both acts and talent and are a great addition to your events calendar.

If you're looking for outdoor entertainment, then you have plenty of options all year round. Be adventurous in our two theme parks, whether it be soaring at warp speed at Busch Gardens or getting wet and wild at Water Country USA, theme parks are a great idea for outdoor recreation. College sports dominate the burg, with William and Mary leading the charge. Tribe Football is a big draw in the fall months and their atheltics program boasts a large local following. Alternative to the roar and pace of a crowded game is the peace and tranquility found on many of Williamsburg golf courses, like Kingsmill, one of the best golf courses in North America.  And if you need a little R&R you should head just a stone's throw away to beautiful Virginia Beach.
